It is Official, in case you missed it

Well, I have already said it, but then a friend wished me luck because I typically at this time of year am driven by word counts and a 30 day window. Unfortunately, I will NOT be participating in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writers Month) this year. I just do not have the time.

There is a part of me that wishes I were.

I am being focused though, I have to keep my grades in school up and I need to work on other things. I will not have a novel finished by the end of 2011, and I am okay with that.

I am working on a couple short stories. I do intend to release them as e-Books once they are ready. I have many plots swimming around in my mind that the muse likes to pull forward when I need to be studying... typically Latin, but I digress.

So it is official, I will not be doing NaNoWriMo. (I may play with some of the word sprints though.)

A peek…

Remember the other day when I posted about being organized? I have my office semi setup. I am waiting for internet cables to be ran to the room. (We have dialup at the house, but are hoping cable gets here eventually)

So I thought I would give a sneak peak on what my office looks like. It is not finished, and there is much more to get done. But, it’s a start.

I am very thankful I have a dedicated area to work at.

Organization

I have discovered that it does not matter how organized your desk or computer are, that you are not organized fully until you have a set schedule for yourself. This has been hard for me.

Sure, I am a college student but I am also a mom and a wife. There is a lot to juggle there.

My top priority has been getting my office set up. With my office set up, other things can fall into place. It will make it so that when I have 15-20 minutes free, I can sit down and write or research.

That is my two cents. I am praying that my schedule will work over the weekend so I can get a short finished and have a beta look it over.

Why I Write

I have been asked many times why I write. I have also been asked if I know that being a successful writer is harder to achieve than perhaps, winning the lottery. I do know that being successful like Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, Ted Dekker, and many others will all be attributed to timing. It will matter if the world is ready for me yet. That is what will determined on if I am successful.

"Why I write" is much more indecisive. Today I am writing this post to share my feelings. Ten years ago I wrote because I was fully in love with a fantasy that could never happen and escaped in a world not my own. Tomorrow I write because I want people to see a world that my mind has created that is full of whimsy and fantasy all while looking like the world around us in reality.

I write fiction to share the mystery. I write nonfiction so that I can share what worked for me.

The Journey Begins

I have decided that while I can not commit to the time that NaNoWriMo requires, I can do a short story. Thankfully, the folks over @buddhapuss have a writing contest that is open from now until December 31, 2011. Their writing contest is YA Mystery Shorts 2011.

Looks good and my favorite character has been trying to figure out what to do with her youth. LOL

To my fellow writing friends, let me know if you are entering too.

Also, I will need a beta or two. If you are interested... message me @chenoadawn

Have a great day!

Starting Again…

I have started this journey before, only to stop for one reason or the other. I imagine those that have known me for a few years have reached the point to thinking that I will never really write the words in my head down on paper.

I am determined.

I am scared.

I am concerned with my crazy schedule of actually being able to get anything done.

So I will go one small step at a time.

This weekend I am working on a short story formally known as the epilogue to the novel in my head. I am hoping to have a friend or two (hint hint) beta it for me and then I will do any revisions needed. Hopefully in a couple weeks e-publish it and see how the interest goes. I may even do a give away on my Facebook page. Maybe.

Here we go!

Hello!

I am Faith. When I grow up I want to be a writer. Actually, I am a writer. Just not an author yet.

I have been writing short stories, poetry and such since I was able to write.
